ABOUT ME
I work with individuals, couples, and families from the belief that humans are all inherently good and we are all capable of positive change. I believe that the joys and struggles of our lives are relational. My philosophy is grounded in discovering and understanding our context in the systems we participate in, from our most intimate relationships to our locations in greater society. Illuminating unspoken cultural narratives and finding words for the oppressed, forgotten, and shamed can heal ourselves and society. I use empathy, curiosity, humility and humor in dialogue to help clients imagine and practice authentic and more fulfilling ways of relating to themselves and others. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which draws from attachment theory. I also use techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help individuals communicate with their many internal parts. I volunteer at the Dougy Center for Grieving Children & Families as a group facilitator for kids 6 to 12 years old. My supervisors are Kirk Shepard LPC and Jessica Thomas PhD LMFT.
I am an elder-millennial in the "sandwich generation" navigating roles of mother, daughter to aging and ill parents, and co-parent to two kiddos. Before my career in therapy I made costumes for theatre, dance, opera, and film. I use my identities and my life experience in session to create an authentic and spontaneous connection with my clients. I am an avid maker of things: dollhouses, gardens, quilts, and friends. I write songs to sing with my guitar, a way to share my stories and express bittersweet observations of life.
